Nose is coffee some apple and red fruits and a strong umami smell. Taste is sweet and sour with apple red fruits some molasses and some woody notes. First time drinking a beer 10 years old. Better than expected. Birthday Beer #3

[Bottled 2012?] Roast barley, beef oxo cubes & figs stewed in balsamic on the nose; taste is thick & oily, somewhat rusty, but there’s sherbet lime & powdery black malt too; tangy lime marmalade on ryvita aftertaste; bitter burnt malt & soy sauce finish.

Initially smells a bit meaty. Thick, prune juice and a touch of coffee. Cognac barrels? There is a spirit / medicinal warmth to this but it’s also quite smooth and rich. Needs an open fire, a cold night and Barry White 😉
