Helles Lager by Stockyards Brewing

Darcy is drinking a Helles Lager by Stockyards Brewing at Duncaster Park

Such a solid Beer Store beer. Solid. Clean. Slightly bready - more like crust on just-baked break. Lovely. / Yeah it’s raining but that’s what an awning is for. Northern Cardinals & Red-breasted Nuthatches chirping & at the feeder - absolutely blessed 😇

Infected. Vinous (red wine BA) smell however the taste is worse: red wine vinegar. Acidic. Faint coconut. Low carb - almost flat. It’s not the bottleshop as the beer cooler is always cold. Poor QC here.

A bit malty and not hoppy enough for the malt weight. It’s a decent sports bar lager. 0C/32F is just mild enough for a jacket-free 🍺 outside

The 12 Days of Christmas is all great and that, but a true love would gift the other a bunch of beers in any tree. Cold beer 🍺 + warm 🌞

Yeah, it’s short sleeve 👕 weather in February. So warm I had to rip off the sweater. Nice malt body, clean, almost faint plum fruitiness. It’s a solid everyday Helles, and being beyond the curiosity of Beer Store customers, had 8 months of shelf age.

Pale, almost clear. There’s muddled citrus & pine, but it’s neither hop flavourful nor bitter. Not an IPA - it’s a watery supermarket pale ale. Won’t try this again for at least a couple years.

Miss these guys already. Another craft casualty during COVID; basically just The Granite now doing proper British ales in Ontario. Figs, roasted nuts, at first and then entirely ethyl alcohol - like sterilizer. Didn’t age well. But I still miss them.

Mostly Foam by True History Brewing

Very grainy. Mostly grain. Extremely caramely - as in corn syrup caramely. Mostly Foam if we’re talking about Burlington VT’s Foam. I don’t like that Foam, either.

Crisp, clean and hoppy. Very nice. -12°C tonight but not even close to -15°C in Montreal. Cold weekend coming! ❄️ 🧊

Darcy is drinking a Bůh Speciální Edice by Godspeed Brewery at Duncaster Park

It’s a pleasant enough Czech Pils. Light on the body (not even close to Pils Urquell, say), with nice bitterness but I’m missing the earth spice from Sääz hops - which I know well from homebrewing days. Solid 3.25 but not feeling the hype like many others

Oversweet and not especially complex, but for 4 bucks I can’t complain too much. Chocolate brownie & butterscotch on the palate with some buttered toast on the finish. 3oz is enough for me.

Generic hazy base beer with some medicinal hop flavours. It’s bad. And the movie f&$king sucks too Might not be the last drainpour of 2022 - I still have loads of time left

Smooth & chocolatey. Carb is superb on this - almost like cask ale. Getting full quickly on beer, so it’s on the wine next.

This is the real deal. Roasted chestnuts, toffee, walnuts, coffee. Brilliant. Nearly 12% and backs it up with the body but is light, almost weightless. No diabetes syrup thickness like Founders, The Bruery, etc, etc. Solid. OG purchase Nov, 2015.

Purchased at North Coast Brewing Co. Taproom & Grill
