Seductive and intoxicating cheese yeast funk aroma. Follows through to the palate. Literally yeast funk juice. I've never had such a thing. Mildly tart, mildly sour, fruit in the background. This blows away any I have ever had of this style, by far.

Wayne D: So...a couple of things. Outstanding beer from Russian River. And...available at this place in Philly, along with other RR beers. A couple of blocks away from Monk's, another source of RR in Philly. Both get some Pliny the Younger in season.
Scott: As I know you are a big fan of funky lambic styles, I finally got to The Referendum yesterday in Kutztown, PA. Absolutely stellar beers. Had some definite Cantillon type vibes.
Wayne D: Wow, how cool is that! I have only had two of their beers, but they were outstanding (my ratings were 4.90 and 5.00). Yes sir...after NE IPAs, wild ales/lambics are my next love. But I think that is reversing. I am really a fan of wild ale funk.

Red wine and cherries on nose when the cork pops silently. Sour, vinous and funky with an acidic and really dry finish. Oak, lemon, cherries, red wine, dried fruits, spices and caramel. Drinking really well, but lost some of the fruitiness. 4.0-

Time has tempered this bottle kindly. Brett is tame. Flavors are on the subtle side. Really enjoyable and not what I was expecting. One more in the cellar not sure how much longer to wait.
