The Mild

Originally used as a term to designate young, fresh beer as opposed to aged, or 'stale' ale, Milds eventually became synonymous with low abv, dark beers. Once a stable of British drinking culture, Milds fell out of favour somewhat, but are now enjoying a small renaissance within the Craft Beer world.

Drawing inspiration from recipes from the 19th Century, a complex blend of Maris Otter, Amber, Smoked and Special B malts result in a brooding and complex beer that belies its modest strength. Whilst very much a malt-dominated beer, a generous kettle addition of Bramling Cross hops adds notes of spice, blackcurrant, and a gentle, balancing bitterness.
