Thanks Matt S.! As suspected, Sapwood handled the licorice flavors delicately. Earthy leather and tobacco, and a nice subtle anise touch.

Not everyone loves black licorice, and I only tolerate it, but it’s a really nice variant flavor for Sir Rupert. Such a powerful, dark, barrel aged stout needs something strong to complement it, and licorice and fennel do the trick nicely.

I really enjoy this. I already really enjoyed the standard Sir Rupert, but the subtle sweetness and unique flavor of the licorice balances this stout out more than it’s original while giving it more personality. I also generally really enjoy licorice.

Could be a little thicker, holding the carbonation better. The licorice flavor is faint, which works for me as someone who doesn't like black licorice.. EDIT: the licorice comes out more as it warms up

Forgot to check this in after dinner... was a bit concerned about lingering flavors, but that was unfounded. Nice hint of licorice w/o overwhelming the palate.
