Nic Hendrickson: Yeah, the bottle I had wasn’t exactly the freshest. Tasted like a slightly toned down American Barleywine.

I think Nic nailed this one. Super malty to the point of Belgian and/or barley wine! Sweet and boozy, with a taste of earthy hops. Put this in a barrel and age it!!

Mt. Begbie Brewing Company: Ya guys those bottles are nearly 2 years old so the citrus in the Centennial has faded and yup more like Barley Wine by now.
Nic Hendrickson: Mt. Begbie Brewing Co. Makes sense. Was still tasty nonetheless
Magnetic Clifton: Nic H. I agree! It was still a very tasty brew, and I would think that high ABV is probably what saved it 😁 Curious to know what a fresh one tasted like!
Mt. Begbie Brewing Company: Its a single hop (Centennial) Triple IPA. Centennial has a rich orange citrus flavour when fresh, that has faded but 10% 88 IBU it will last

Meh, more syrupy sweet than hoppy, which is a thing, but not what I’m looking for in a DIPA. It’s pretty sweet no balance at all.

James T: Makes sense. It’s all good, very rare to get anything less than great from you guys! If it ever comes back I’ll try and get a fresh one.

A very malty take on the style - pretty well an American Barleywine. Lots of caramel, bread crust and molasses with hop notes of grapefruit peel and pine resin
Mt. Begbie Brewing Company: That bottle is a year old so its lost its hoppy edge so yes tuning into a barley wine profile.
Nic Hendrickson: Mt. Begbie Brewing Co. Makes sense! Quite a tasty beer, regardless of age. Are y’all doing it again? Would love to try it fresh and see the difference.
Mt. Begbie Brewing Company: Not until next year unfortunately. With the cost of the glass bottles now, $15 bottles are harder to sell. Possibly a tall can next year??
Nic Hendrickson: Mt. Begbie Brewing Co. Yeah, makes sense. With the prices of bottles and trends of consumers, it seems bombers are a things of the past. I’d certainly buy a tall boy or 4 of this.

Mt. Begbie Brewing Company: We are not brewing Grond this fall so stock up...
Nick N: Ah! Thanks for the heads up!
Cellered 4 years (ya I know it's an IPA) has lost its citrus hop edge and tastes like a Barley wine. Smooth sweet Malty and delish.
