“The mistress of this place will tolerate no enforcement”, that's what was written on a shield near the entrance into the Hermitage palace during the reign of Catherine the Great. This Russian imperial stout owes its appearance to her love to English beer, especially to porter. Catherine the Great had done a lot for the benefit and the prosperity of the Russian Empire, and to her we dedicate this beer of ours.
We have interpreted in a modern manner a 1796 recipe of English double porter, the very one with which Catherine the Great was so fascinated. We also took courage to add raspberries, which she is also told to have loved, to craft our beer to her majesty’s taste.
