Temple of Stone IPA is BJ's first collaboration with Stone Brewing Co., one of the most successful craft brewers in America. It's a truly unique and distinctive IPA that is brewed with malted wheat, experimental hops and elderflower. The use of wheat enhances the complex hop profile. Two experimental hop varieties - Jarrylo and Belma - contribute fruity hop flavors that resemble blackberry and strawberry, while mellow floral notes of elderflower cover the palate. The finish is hop bitter as you would expect from an IPA.

Who better to brew an absolute stunner of a West Coast IPA with than Stone Brewing? Hailing from California, Stone have been creating amazing beers for nearly three decades and we are excited to create this beauty together.

It’s a classic West Coaster with all U.S. hops; powerful pine and grapefruit aromas pour forth from the glass, then the assertive hop bite leaps on to the palate along with flavours of tangerine and lemon. The robust malt keeps it in balance, leading to a long, bitter finish.

What does it mean? Yes, what indeed does it all mean.

Meaning of course is elusive and illusive. It can’t or shouldn’t be found on this bottle. Should it? Yet what if it was? Would you begin to look for pearls of wisdom or life direction on a beer label? Perhaps it’s been there all along. Since meaning is a mere illusion, perhaps we shouldn’t let it have any influence on our destiny.

This particular beer refused to succumb to the illusion of meaning or allow capricious parameters to have any influence on its own fermented fate. Are we even asking the right question? Are you feeling frustrated in the emptiness? If so, that could be because someone got to this beer before you, and thus there’s a reason for that emptiness. It’s empty. And if so, perhaps there indeed is not any meaning for you here after all.

A saison brewed with Japanese plums & perilla and aged in New Zealand chardonnay barrels.

Three breweries from three points on the compass— Garage Project, from Wellington NZ, Stone from the U.S. West Coast and Tokyo’s Coedo —bring their combined experience, creativity and inspiration to this utterly unique collaborative brew. Tsuyu, named after the gentle “plum rain” that falls in Japan as the ume harvest ripens, is a new take on the saison style. Brewed with American Jarrylo and New Zealand Motueka hops, Tsuyu is infused with ume plums and red perilla leaf and aged in freshly emptied New Zealand chardonnay barrels. For this release we turn the volume up to 11 with Fruitallica, first brewed with the original rockstar brewers, Stone from Escondido, California. This brew mashes up the signature swagger of Stone’s West Coast IPA style with golden kiwifruit, yuzu and habanero chilli to create a hyper hopped up fruit bomb of a beer. An interesting collaboration between Nomad and Stone Brewing (California- U.S.A.). Brewing legend Mitch Steele helped us out to create a unique Rye IPA. Mitch's knowledge on IPAs and hop dosing in general is beyond awesome and we at Nomad are grateful to him for teaching us some of his secrets.
Two American and Two Australian popular hops were added to the boil.
Rye is known to deliver somewhat of a peppery spiciness to beers and is usually added at around 20% of the total grain bill to really come through, which is exactly what we did to benefit from Rye aromas and flavors. The hops come through big and resiny, West Coast Style!
This collaboration will be one to be remembered for sure.

Dry hopped with so many hops that our yield on the beer decreases more than 20% from the original wort size. But what wouldn't a brewer do to get as much of that hoppy deliciousness as possible, hey?! Read Less
