Grupo Modelo, founded in 1925, is a leader in the manufacture, distribution and sale of beer in Mexico and since 2013 is an important part of Anheuser-Busch InBev, the leading global brewer.
The Group's history dates back to 1922 when a group of shareholders took to the adventure of building the "Cerveceria Modelo SA". Three years later, in 1925 it inaugurated the Modelo Brewery in Mexico City selling beer Model (dark), Corona (clear) and Beer Barrel Model in quarters and eighths.
The history of some of its brands dates from further back, beer Victoria, for example, is the Mexican beer with greater seniority as it is produced and sold in Mexico since 1865. Beer Leon and Pacific are manufactured in the country since early twentieth century.
Grupo Modelo currently has 15 national brands, among which Corona Extra, the most valuable brand in Latin America, Modelo Especial, Victoria, Pacifico and Negra Modelo.
Export eight brands and has presence in over 180 countries. Global portfolio of Budweiser, Bud Light, Bud Light Platinum, Ritas Bud Light, Stella Artois, Michelob Ultra brands and non-alcoholic beer O'Doul's, produced by Anheuser-Busch InBev sold. Through a strategic alliance with Nestlé Waters, it distributes in Mexico the bottled water brands Sta. María and Nestlé Pureza Vital, among others.
Corona beer is proudly Mexican brand is exported to more countries in the world and was integrated into the global portfolio of AB InBev with Budweiser and Stella Artois.
