What’s an Italian style Pilsner? Well it’s pretty much a zippier/hoppier version of a German pils. Malt bill is super light, moderate bitterness is highlighted, dry, and most importantly—hopped with a tooon of Noble varieties. So naturally we reached out to our dear friend Claudio from Pa’la to make one together. Navarro is the result.
We start with a terroir Pilsner malt from Weyermann utilizing Eraclea barley, specifically grown near the Adriatic Sea NE of Venice. A barley variety like this, that tends to grow well in drier climates, typically has a ton of flavor complexity.
