craig albracht: Pastry’s are a little different that traditional Stouts so that may be the issue. Usually more sweet.

I'd love to love this but I can't. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty good but I really wanted it to be amazing. It's not. Guess I'm asking too much then? There's definitely chocolate, toffee and notes of something like honey. Sweet but with a dry finish.

Andy Turpin: craig a. To me this is not a pastry stout anyway. Honeycomb toffee is a flavour that's been used in the occasional stout over here for a few years, well before I'd ever heard of a pastry stout. Tbh, I expected it to be sweeter than it was.
craig albracht: Some pastries are not that sweet. This one looks like it has honey and honey is not always sweet but has a lot of flavor. I have had a few pastry stouts that taste like a normal stout but a little sweetness. But every beer is different.🍻
Andy Turpin: craig a. The thing is honeycomb toffee does not necessarily have honey in it. I don't know if you have it over there. Honeycomb is literally a description of its appearance and doesn't necessarily indicate honey as an ingredient. We have a famous....
Andy Turpin: ...chocolate bar over here called a Crunchie. It's basically a chocolate covered bar of honeycomb toffee. However, it has no honey in it.
craig albracht: Thanks Andy. I’m not aware of honeycomb toffee over here but I will look for it.

Pleasant. Not overtly honeycomb. A good accompaniment to somebody enjoying the harsh, abrasive action of a kitchen towel on their nose.

Lacks balance, bittered enough to taste almost metallic. The finish ends up being not entirely pleasant

Sweet, smooth, thick. Can't say I'm getting the honeycomb though.
