The Chief is an homage to California and all the trail blazing IPAs that came before it. It has a burnt orange color that finishes with enough sweet caramel finish to balance the hop bitterness. This beer is all about the hops! To pack all the hop flavor and aromatics in without getting overly bitter, we start with a 30 minute addition of Centennial, a 20 minute addition of CTZ, and a 10 minute addition of Cascade. In the dry hop we add a bucket load of Centennial and Simcoe to really highlight the piney profile. The result is an IPA layered with pine and citrus throughout the flavor profile.
This beer is a nod to my late father Robert Scull, who was the longest tenured volunteer firefighter in the history of the state of New Jersey. I'm sure he would love this one... It definitely answers the call!
