Sour Ale with Stone Ashe Vineyard Merlot Grapes

Roaming aimlessly across the plane of earthen continuance. Continuously, and forever, baffled by our own existence. Our annual exposition into the belly of fine wine and wild beer has met its final composition. This barrel-aged sour ale is inspired by the beauty of early-release wine and was blended from a blend of 1 and 2-year-old red sour ales aged in red wine barrels. We then harvested Merlot grapes from our good friends at Stone Ashe Vineyards out in Hendersonville and allow the fruit to carbonically macerate and begin fermentation with its native flora. The beer is then blended into the fermenting fruit, allowing both cultures to take hold on the remaining fruit sugars. These grapes were picked, destemmed and pressed right here in North Carolina, adding a local terroir that we have ushered back into this series. An extremely unique hybrid drinking experience that is rife with sweet plum marmalade, toasted blackberry tart, bubbly lambrusco and the spice of wild fervor down in the hay bales. Show Less
