Garagiste Meadery: Big acid and big tannin. Tannins from the wood and from the berries. Probably could have gone sweeter; at the time sour was all the rage.

Super dark purple, looks thick enough. Smells sweet, some honey, both berries pulp. Sticky, nice thickness. Dryer than expected, slightest pucker. Tons of tart blackberries, little bit of raspberry for brightness. It feels like it would be too sour, but..

Garagiste Meadery: One of the real challenges of judging older beers/meads. They are a product of their time; but, you tend to judge using a modern lens.
Douwe van der P.: ...but I love it anyways ;) big is the right word, but nothing too big, I prefer this over sweet bombs!

Never seen this after a 10 minute car ride. Interesting. Taste okay. Not my favorite
