Had a heavy metallic nose and palate, likely from the bottle cap. Finally was able to get some tasting notes from it after nearly finishing the glass. Definitely some pecan and bitter coffee notes. A little muted because of the metal though.

Definitely Balmorrhea accents on the nose. Thin body but everything you’d want in an oatmeal stout. Not overly boozy at 10.5%.

Hell yes! Perfectly executed. Maple flavor with huge chocolate notes balanced by a darker chocolate bitterness. Very long finish.

Dated 2017. Great challenging ale. Thin mouth feel (UK style). Goes down easy. Sweetness comes from malt and long aged whisky barrel. Malty then dark chocolate covered raisins then raisin bread w/ a smoky dryness on the finish. Never had a beer like it.

Aged one year. It has mellowed the boozy notes and let the oak notes shine. A little funk in the finish. A great beer. Two more are still aging.

Rob Ramsey: The first Mike S. It’s a favorite! I still talk about that tequila barreled quad from there.
Much less metal on the nose/ palate than the 2021. Chocolate and roasty coffee comes out, although not as bold as the 2018.
