Ryan Louis is drinking a #42 Poblano Stout by Big Choice Brewing at Big Choice Brewing
I love pepper in beers; and they must have had trouble selling, because the menu makes it clear (“NO HEAT”). It’s tasty, but it could do with some heat actually! 🌶️

A little red that could. And did. Slight hoppy flavors melt into a morning grapefruit with a *bit* of salt & sugar.

An interesting choice because it’s somewhere between a Porter and a Black Ale. 35 IBUs but still doesn’t overpower the richness of the malt.

It’s a slow-burn beer. At first cloudy and metallic, I found myself dipping in and coming out with a continually revealing malt. The complexity intensifies as the sugar turns to brown sugar turns to currant turns to a dry champagne. Fabulous in every way

Smoke is always overpowering; but there’s enough malt still in it that it’s a fun drink to just sip. Avoid it in a flight, tho - impossible to come back from. Couldn’t use some soft cream or spice to balance.
