Beams of tropical sunshine burst forth bright but fleeting rays of pineapple, mango and grapefruit, in a decent, albeit Lilt-lite, concoction. A deft brush of allium savouriness adds a herbal undercurrent, aided by a minuscule spritz of essential pine.

The Bruce attributes are all here: rich choc cake batter, cocoa fudge filling, a well-balanced mix of sweetened, bitter coffee… but if the previous Imperial edition was all that turned up to 11, this version is restrained, and lacks a level of excitement.
