Our first Black IPA! Our first Cascadian Dark Ale! Our first (overt) Black Album reference! This little bit of history in the making during our generation is now available in our tasting rooms and will soon be showing up at select retailers! To take a sip of dark delight is to be transported back to the 00s!! This category-defying beer style actually goes back to the Vermont Pub and Brewery in the early 1990s, but it didn’t hit center stage until 2008 when two industry titans argued over what to call it. Whichever moniker you prefer a well-made Black IPA/CDA should deliver more than just a sight gag. We are looking for espresso romano meets lambs bread here! A cool combo of the best attributes of a porter and an IPA! To achieve this we employ a host of debittered dark grains, including Midnight Wheat and CARAFA 3, alongside the classic West Coast aroma of Simcoe and Ahtanum hops! The ensuing brew is complex like Che Guevara with bling on! Remarkably light-bodied, featuring an inviting aromas of fancy colas and navel oranges that lead to a satisfying combination of roast and citrus at the finish! Grand opening! Grand closing!
