Hathor

Hathor is an Egyptian goddess who was believed to be the "inventress of brewing." The history of women in beer neither begins nor ends with Hathor. In fact, from ancient Egypt to the Vikings, women were the chief beermakers of their societies, and the Middle Ages and Renaissance periods saw the prevalence of women-run taverns where women brewed and sold beer. These women became known as “alewives.” By the early 16th century, strict gender norms were imposed across Europe, gradually forcing many women out of the beer industry.



With the spirit of 'Hathor' in mind, we brewed this beer to not only honor the women of the past but also to shine a light on the amazing women of today who continue to shape our industry. Hathor is an expressive Session IPA with notes of passion fruit, citrus, and a touch of earthiness, and it benefits the Pink Boots Society, which was established to assist, inspire, and encourage female beer industry professionals to advance their careers through education.
