Belgian-Style Tripel Ale, Chardonnay Barrel Aged

Built on a base of Belgian candi sugar and a lighter malt bill, our Tripel is the most delicate offering in our Virtuous Endeavor® Series. This simple backbone allows for a great expression of the Belgian yeast, showcasing banana, clove, pepper, and orchard fruit flavors. We decided to exploit this delicate, yet solid foundation, by aging our Tripel in Californian Chardonnay barrels. Over its ten-month stay in oak, the beer extracted notes of caramelized sugar and layers of subtle fruit, which balance the base beer in an almost contradictory fashion. Our Barrel Aged Tripel is rich, yet dry; fraught with ethanol, yet fruity; and sweet, with a piquant finish.
