Schwarzbier

Cocoa, spicy hops, and smooth.

Tasting Notes: Deep dark, almost black in color, with a khaki colored head. Velvety smooth aromas of cocoa and chocolate, with hints of noble hops in the background. Spicy German Tettnang hops make a bolder impression on the front of the palate, with creamy chocolate and malt character coming into focus. Medium to light body, with a a hint of roast, and one last hurrah of spicy hops in the smooth, drying finish.

History: Schwarzbier is a rather ancient beer style, though modern interpretations tend to fit in a strange middle ground between a Munich-style Dunkel, and a German Pils. Sometimes referred to as a "black pils." Not quite as hoppy as a pils, but clean, light bodied, and effortless to drink like one Show Less
