Desert Swarm is CVB’s take on Belgian Style Witbier referring to the beers cloudy appearance. Desert Swarm is brewed with Honey, Raw Unmalted wheat, imported Belgian malts, Oats, and locally grown coriander and kumquats from Coachella, California. Paying homage to the style which was once almost extinct, Desert Swarm decants the color of apricots, with a foamy alabaster cap of Belgian lacing, that dissipates quickly releasing the fragrance of citrus and honeycomb. The creamy mouth-feel is contrasted by tart, lip-prickling fizz, carried with it nectar like sweetness which is cut by the kumquats, and just a hint of stomach-stoking warmth right in to the finish from the addition of Bee Honey. As fun, popular and whimsical as the annual local music festival, Kölschella is a Kölsch light golden hybrid ale which is fermented warm and then lagered to produce a crisp, clean, and refreshing ale.

Kölschella is light in body with a very pale straw color, adorned with a whipped cream like head. Our Kölsch has moderate bitterness due to the additions of spicy imported German Noble hops such as Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, Tettnanger, and Spalter Select. A somewhat vinous (grape-y from German wheat and pilsner malts) carry through to create a squeaky clean dry finish, we have found this to be one of the most sessionable year round beers in our lineup. GOLD MEDAL AT THE 2015 LA INTERNATIONAL BEER FESTIVAL.

Phoenix dactylifera is a the genus name for the date palm tree which has long been cultivated for its edible sweet fruit. Phoenix Vienna lager is brewed with German Pilsner, Vienna, Carapils malts, and locally grown Medjoul Dates which are added to the boil. Subtle German Noble hop bitterness provides balance and crisp flavor, with notes of toffee, dates and figs shining through into the finish. Phoenix is fermented with a Mexican Lager yeast and then lagered for an additional 60 days the result is a quaffable malt forward lager with an influence of Medjool Dates for a uniquely local Coachella Valley flavor. Pairs extremely well with spicy foods including bbq, and of course all Mexican food.

Dubbel Date is CVB’s Belgian Style Abbey Dubbel Ale brewed with Medjoul Dates Hadley Date Gardens grown right in the Coachella Valley. Typically, dark candy sugars are used to formulate Belgian Style Dubbels but we took a different approach by employing Medjoul Dates which are the crown jewel of the Coachella Valley date growers and are the most sought after date because of their massive size and complex taste. Dubbel Date is described as a rich, and malty ale, boasting notes of cherry and plum with some steely caramel flavor from the two additions of dates in the boil kettle. The Belgian Trappist yeast produces fruit, and spices, like raisin, anise and pepper and finishes with mild alcoholic warmth. Read Less

Volstead India Pale Lager is a Classic American Pilsner or pre-prohibition style pilsner brewed to commemorate the repeal of the Volstead Act. The National Prohibition Act, known informally as the Volstead Act, was enacted to carry out the intent of the Eighteenth Amendment, which established prohibition in the United States. The Anti-Saloon League’s Wayne Wheeler conceived and drafted the bill, which was named for Andrew Volstead, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, who managed the legislation. This was one of the most significant events of this time and placed this once popular beer style into near extinction almost overnight. Classic American Pilsner is a much bigger beer, in terms of flavor and aroma, than today’s mainstream American Pilsners. Like your grandpa’s Pilsner, this is a rich malty and hoppy beer. Volstead has deep complexity, creamy mouthfeel with a crisp, refreshing finish. Expect some alcoholic warmth from the veritable 7% ABV with a medium body and medium to high carbonation. It pours a deep gold with brilliant clarity.

Formulated with domestic Pilsner malt, 30% of the fermentable sugars in this brew are derived from flaked corn giving the beer a subtle sweet corn character. We add Carapils® to improve the head and body, and melanoidin malt to create a richer malt background, small amounts of both to overwhelm the grainy malt flavors of this beer.
