A brand new Williamsburg collaboration, Red Rye IPA is debuting at the food and Virginia beer festival, Whistle Belly. "Alewerks Brewing Company is proud to partner with The Virginia Beer Company to produce a beer in celebration of Williamsburg's burgeoning craft beer scene. Our collaborative Red Rye IPA will debut at DoG Street Pub's Whistle Belly on August 2, and will be available locally thereafter. This unique IPA is built on a foundation of spicy rye, luscious crystal, pale, and a touch of roasted malt, while also featuring one of the brewing industry's newer hop varieties, named ‘Azacca’. Expect this hop to bring notes of mango, papaya, pineapple and citrus to the beer's overall flavor and aroma profile,” says Geoff Logan, Brewmaster at Alewerks Brewing Company. “At Alewerks, we welcome our new brewing brethren to the local craft beer scene and are excited about working together for many years to come!" For our collaboration with The Virginia Beer Company, we brewed Jordan's Juice, a 100% wheat juicy IPA. Starting with Galaxy Hops in the whirlpool, then dry-hopped with El dorado and Idaho 7, and fermented with Sacc Trois, it's no surprise that the resulting beer is bursting with mango and pineapple aromas, has an incredibly smooth mouthfeel and is packed with tropical juice flavors.

The Combat Common is a balanced and refreshing amber lager with a medium body and moderate carbonation. It exhibits a malt-forward flavor profile, featuring caramel and toasty notes, complemented by a subtle fruitiness at 5.3% ABV.

Justin Douglas Dickman, our friend, coworker, and area musician passed away recently. He was a friend to many and he will be sorely missed. Immediately the Williamsburg brewing community came together to brew a beer that Jady would have loved using donated ingredients from each of the breweries. Proceeds from this beer will go directly to Jady’s family to help ease the financial burden of a loved one passing. We get bright citrus, mild coconut and passionfruit.

A collabroation between Center of the Universe Brewing + The Virginia Beer Co. brewed at Origin Beer Lab for the Virginia Historical Society's BrewHaHa Historical Beer Festival.

Based on an historical recipe and brewed with predominately malted white wheat, our Persimmon Wheat Ale was constructed in order to showcase the main ingredient, persimmons. After the beer was fermented, we added 60 pounds of persimmon puree to the beer. After secondary fermentation, the beer was left with a pleasant fruity aroma and flavor that is both enjoyable and unique. The beer stands at 7.0% ABV, is persimmon flavor forward, and very smooth and refreshing. Read Less

Brewed in collabElation with Virginia Beer Company, most of this beer found its way into barrels to age with a mix of different brettanomyces strains. After filling the barrels, we had a small bit left in the tank. We decided to keg it and we couldn't be happier with that choice. This saison is brewed with a high percentage of spelt malt and is fruity, funky, spicy and full of farmhouse characteristics. Only one keg of this beer, so get it while it lasts!
