Doug R is drinking a Vanilla Rye Obsidius - 2024 by Woven Water Brewing at Talwood Tavern
#1 TBBW beer. No question. Had it on draft and in the bottle. Deep, rich mash. Thicc. Vanilla notes for sure. It’s just chewy and rich and was worth the trip to Tampa to Woven for the week by itself.

The barrel on this was pretty noticeable. They definitely get credit for that. The mash seemed to support it. I didn’t get any adjunct from it so it takes it down a tick but it was a really solid pour.

Their mash just doesn’t seem to be as thick and rich as it used to be. I seem to be saying that a lot about breweries these days. Not a bad poor at all. Willet barrel definitely came through.

The Squatch was finally found in the thick forest of bottles in the back of my fridge. Carbon dating puts this bottle at 2016-2017. Age has definitely slowed down this once great beast or, at least, marginally acceptable one and sapped its strength.
