Wow, huge red wine taste. Had to double check I hadn’t poured a glass of a big Barossa red! If I’m being honest it probably overwhelmed the underlying stout. Would’ve liked more thickness and a bigger stout flavour coming through.

Tart, slightly sour, slightly Bretty, lots of wine, decent amount of oaky flavor. Very unique. Good, but definitely prepare for a wild stout, not a clean stout.

Aroma is busy, sweet/sour/bitter. More reminiscent of actual red wine than I expected, not as gimmicky as it sounds. Palate has an acidity to it that actually mingles nicely with the roast bitterness. Pretty fun addition to the winter stout madness.

Stouts in wine barrels can be pretty hit and miss. This one's a bit though with a decent amount of spicy shiraz coming through on big bodied but smooth stout malt base. One for the red wine drinkers as well as the stout drinkers.
