We’ve got a truly great team here at Townsite and every day we are thankful that we get to work with each other producing some really great beer. As Chloe is often heard to remark, ‘What we have here is a perfect storm: from brewing, to sales, to distribution & marketing.’

To celebrate this serendipity, Cédric has brewed up the perfect storm of a beer: a rich, round, roasty oatmeal stout using flaked oats and roasted barley to add to our house roast malts (Chocolate and Crystal) and hopped with Columbus, Cascade and Golding. Read Less

Flavour profile:
Subtly spiced with coriander, star anise and handmade candi Belgian sugar. This mother of a dark ale tastes of plums, currants and caramel. Comforting winter stews beside a roaring fire are just the ticket with this beer.

A classic unfiltered Belgian-style Saison as brewed in the southern farmlands of Belgium where Townsite's brewmaster Cedris was born and raised. The name is a reference to the distance a cuckoo flies between his hometown of Horrues and his new home of Powell River.

Flavour Profile:
This unfiltered Belgian harvest style ale pairs with any old thing! This beer is bulletproof when pairing with food. Start with tangy red snapper add in a spicy Thai dish then move on to chorizo sausage with apple coleslaw.

Good to know:

Belgian-style IPA’s are a relatively new beer style in North America and are marked by a higher ABV, strong hops and a delicate fruity nose. Think: grapefruit and passion fruit mix in a heavenly marriage of boozy elixir. This beer is well-suited for cellaring for up to 5 years.

The name is a nod to the gastropub that Brewer Engineer Cédric Dauchot and his wife, Brewery Manager Chloe Smith, planned to open in Saskatoon. Fortunately for everyone in BC, this didn’t pan out and they moved to Powell River to head the brew crew at Townsite instead! Read Less

In time for BC Craft Beer Month, Townsite’s Brewer Engineer Cédric Dauchot unleashes a wet-hopped pale ale, brewed with locally-sourced hops including certified organic Windfall Farms hops as well as wild hops from certain secret Texada Island locations.

Although not an IPA, this pale ale still packs a hoppy punch so prepare your nose hairs to curl up and let out a happy sigh. Its well-rounded maltiness makes this a session beer to anticipate with relish every October.

This year’s version is a new and improved blended ale. A sour ale with strong notes of apricot mixed with a malty red ale. Cédric added some of his signature Belgian candi sugar for a smooth,
round, fruity mash up with a tangy zip of sourness.

The vibrant acidity of this beer is a dead ringer for shellfish. It is delicate and fruity enough for spot prawns with just a hint of sweetness to complement scallops in herbed butter perfectly.

Flavour profile:
Beautiful floral hop nose from the Styrian Golding hops. This beer is a citrus gem with a nice thick head on top. With less boozy aromas than the Charlston Triple this beer should be handled with care, you won't see the 9.0% ABV coming until it's too late!

Good to konw:
YOGN 82 was sunk in the summer of 2018 as the first ship in the creation of an artificial reef just off the shores of Willingdon Beach in Powell River. More ships are destined to join YOGN on the ocean floor, but which is next remains a secret at this point! Read Less

Living on the shores of the Salish Sea has us feeling salty! You know what we mean; wind in your hair, screaming at the waves, salty. This beer is brewed for that feeling. A soured wheat beer base with a sea salt addition in the kettle and passion fruit puree in the bright tank.

Pronounced goes-uh, little is known about this style of beer. It originated in the Eastern German town of Goslar over 1000 years ago. The salinity appears to have been a natural phenomenon of the Gose river. Today sea salt is used to obtain a similar flavour profile.
