The cream ale style has been produced since before prohibition. The same goes for the cream city bricks that Milwaukee’s known for – they were used to construct many of Milwaukee's most famous structures. So, what’s with the “brix” spelling? Well brix is simply a measurement of sugar used when making wine and cider… and our way of paying tribute to the literal building blocks and beer history of Milwaukee.

Our cream ale is single hopped and made with Willamette for a light bodied and slightly malty flavor.

So when your friend drinks your Kettle Logic Amber Ale and claims that, 1) I don't even drink beer. 2) I only drink lagers, and 3) I do drink amber ales but only on Wednesdays – today is Saturday... all of those could be true on their own, but they make a terrible argument when you have an empty glass and your friend keeps giving you excuses.

This is an amber-colored ale made on the malty side and balanced with juicy characters from the hops.

Sustained thought is a 6.0% ABV stout made with cold-brewed coffee from Valentine Coffee Roasters here in Milwaukee. We love our coffee, and Milwaukee is flush with amazing roasters practicing their craft. We took a tour around Valentine's space on Vliet and immediately wanted to make a coffee stout using their cold-brew. We did some test batches to share with friends, and this is the final result. Made with oats, chocolate malt, and midnight wheat - plus some British hops. Toasty flavors tango with the vanilla of Valentine's roast for a creamy, not-too-strong coffee stout. Read Less

From the Roots - 7.6% ABV Dark Ale. This beer was made completely with Wisconsin Maple Sap as the "hot liquor" (no additional water was used). Maple sap has a fairly low sugar content before it is reduced down into syrup and is sometimes known simply as "sweet water." Because we make small batches, and because we stumbled into a good supply of maple sap, we were able to make this beer completely from the sap for the entire process. The beer is stronger, but the body is fairly light for being so dark, and there is not a lot of residual sweetness. Read Less

3.5% ABV - This is Enlightened Brewing Company's table beer, simply called "Table Beer." We made this for The Sugar Maple's Avril challenge where Like Minds, Good City, Sierra Nevada and we tried to make a beer in the vein of DuPont Brewing Company's Avril - a low ABV ale with Belgian yeast esters.

It seems that the origin of the table beer was the existence of poor quality water, unsuitable for consumption. People in many parts of Europe had become accustomed to drinking beer at the table throughout the day, and for this reason these "small beers" are lower in alcohol content. Read Less

That’s pretty dark. Just like this beer! "Cosmic Nihilism” is a Czech Dark Lager at 5.2% ABV. It's dark with a beautiful off-white head, and it drinks very light and clean. Flavors of dark fruit and caramel malt with a hint of roasted malt in the aroma.

The universe is vast beyond our comprehension and maybe everything is meaningless but let’s have a beer about it and try to figure it all out. Read Less
