The Curiouser & Curiouser range is a distinctive series of small batch beers by The Curious Brewery, each produced with a winemaker's twist.

Chapter 2 is the second edition in the collection, where we have collaborated with London bases craft brewery Brew by Numbers (BBNo), to develop a delicately refined saison.

This beer recreates several of the flavours of the modern classic English grape varietal, Bacchus. These complement perfectly the dry and fruity qualities of the BBNo house saison yeast strain, and are amplified with the addition of elderflower and hallertau blanc & huell hops.

Chapter 1 is the first release in this collective, and is a collaboration with Somerset’s masters of flavour and fermentation, The Wild Beer Company.

We set out to brew a truly unique fusion of Gueuze-inspired sour ale that breathed the freshness and balance famous in our Bacchus and Chardonnay wines from Chapel Down. The end result is a wild fermented sour ale, barrel aged with Bacchus and Chardonnay wine yeast to create a complex beer that will confound expectations. The wild sour ale’s fresh acidity is balanced by the smooth characteristic of English wine to give intense aromas of citrus and toasted nuts with a hint of vanilla. Read Less

This balanced but powerfully hoppy India Pale Ale is brewed using the finest pale ale malt and three complimentary hops. We use Goldings - the traditional, fresh, sweet, delicate king of English hops. Then we add Bramling Cross, a spicy, blackcurranty beauty and finish with Chinook for a fresh, quenching zestiness. We think that in balancing these three exciting hops we have created a distinctive beer with real drinkability. Read Less

Chapter 4 is the fourth in the collection where our Curious head brewer Matt Anderson has collaborated with London based craft brewery Beavertown to brew a Brut style IPA.
A dry, effervescent IPA with Huell Melon, Nelson Sauvin & Lemon Drop hops provide soft fruity notes of honeydew melon, gooseberry & grapefruit, with delicate vinous, pine and floral undertones. This is perfectly complemented by the addition of Bacchus grapes, the classic English grape variety adds a fresh and zesty palate, with flavours of nettle, kiwi and freshly cut grass leading to a crisp, dry finish. This is as close to champagne as a beer can be! Read Less

A Curious Cuvée collection of a traditional Lager base.
We only collected the 1st 30hl of the wort from the Lauter Tun (usually 56hl). This mimics collection of the first press of grapes, which are of the best quality.
By doing this, we avoid the astringency you can get from the end of a wort collection and also means we end up with a stronger (ABV) beer.

Primary Fermentation with Champagne Yeast
Curious Brew undergoes a secondary fermentation with Champagne yeast. This was a what-if we did the Primary Fermentation with Champagne Yeast where it can impact flavour development.

Aged under pressure in the tank for 9 months
This helped to develop clean and complex flavour profiles.

Aroma – Pear Drops & Green Apple (high-pressure maturation), Clove (Champagne yeast), Banana (long maturation time and yeast blend)

Taste – warming sensation due to the higher alcohol but clean and slightly acidic finish. Most Pilsners would typically finish at pH 4.2. This finishes at pH 3.8 (yeast & tank time). It’s also only natural carbonation from the yeast in the tank. Read Less

Elderflower and grapefruit peel provide zesty, crisp and light flavours, perfectly complemented by the delicate vinous, floral and soft fruity notes of hallertau blanc and huell melon hops. our bacchus yeast allows the classic citrus fruit characteristics of the saison style to really shine and refresh. barrel aging in pinot noir barrels has developed a soft oak aroma, with subtle red fruits, whilst maintaining the classic saison character.
