The Mosaic hop variety was released in 2012 after a successful crossing of two hop varieties called Simcoe and Nugget which captured the best of these varieties to provide clean bitterness and outstanding flavours and aromas. Mosaic hops are similar to Citra, but has an even more intense flavour.

Fergus and the team added the Mosiac hops at three stages during the boil, and once again during fermentation. This has imparted bold hop characters of peach, mango, lemon and pine. All these lovely flavours are complemented by pale ale malt, lager malt and a touch of light cara malt to gently balance the beer whilst allowing the fruity hop flavours to shine through.

The result is a blonde beer with a dry, hoppy finish and bags of Mosaic personality.

Available in cask, with 330ml bottles and keg to follow in late March 2014. Read Less

Southwold Bitter is a beautiful copper-coloured beer, late and dry-hopped with Fuggles for a distinctive, lingering hoppiness.

Brewed with the finest East Anglian Pale Ale malt barley, sourced locally to the brewery. We use Fuggles hops which we add late in the boil to preserve the herbal flavours of this traditional English hop.

First brewed in 1967, it was originally called Adnams Best Bitter. It holds our oldest trademark, Southwold Jack, and remains the original hero in our range.

Southwold Bitter is as distinctive as ‘Southwold Jack’ (the knight with the sword) who appears on the pump clip and has done so through many incarnations. Many Adnams beer fans would agree with our Head Brewer that Adnams Bitter is a truly distinctive pint. We wouldn’t be overselling it to describe it as a classic. Read Less

Brewed with Pilsner malt – like all decent lagers – this authentic lager is then dry hopped with Australian Galaxy hops to add big, fruity hop flavours. Dry hopping allows us to pack more of a flavour punch and adds brilliant hop aromas. It’s then ‘lagered’ (cold conditioned) to produce a full, well rounded flavour. This golden lager is light, crisp and refreshing with subtle malty flavours and a super hoppy aroma of tropical fruits, citrus and passionfruit.

We’ve used loads of hops from North America – Columbus,
Centenial, Cascade, Amarillo and Citra – because we just love the delicious, big, bold citrus and pine flavours and aromas they bring to the beer.
To balance all the this hoppy goodness we've added lots of rye, plus some pale ale and cara malt, to add sweetness, body and balance as well as some lovely subtle toffee flavours.

The hops in Innovation are the stars of the show. We used Boadicea, Columbus and Styrian Goldings hops to create punchy grapefruit flavours and aromas of tropical fruits. These are backed up by wheat and pale ale malted barley which add spicy, biscuit flavours and a slight touch of sweetness. The outcome is a wonderfully moreish IPA, packed full of flavour.

What’s the story?

Upon opening our new brewery, Chairman Jonathan Adnams declared, “We should have a beer to celebrate!”

Of course, he didn’t just see what was lurking at the back of the fridge, oh no. He and the team set about creating one, and this is what they came up with.

Adnams Jack Brand New England IPA is a hazy New England-style beer, which has vibrant notes of pine and gentle malt, packed with juicy orange and big tropical fruit character.
New England IPAs (or NEIPAs) are brewed to be slightly hazy or cloudy, and the style has very gentle hop bitterness and is brewed with citrus/tropical hop-flavoured varieties. Our NEIPA is hazy due to higher levels of protein and more tannins (polyphenols from the hops) – its not hazy from yeast. Read Less

Made using a selection of British hops (predominantly Phoenix), Head Brewer Fergus Fitzgerald has created this black stout as a canny alternative to other well-known Irish stouts. Blackshore has a 4.2% ABV and is brimming with flavours of chocolate and coffee, as well as hints of liquorice and dark fruits, making it a perfect accompaniment to food such as crab, oysters or dark chocolate desserts.

If you’re feeling a bit flat, then a glass of this will make you full of beans… our new Jack Brand Flat White Porter is infused with Colombian coffee beans from Taylors of Harrogate.

We add the coffee after fermentation, so essentially we’ve made a cold brewed beer coffee. We slowly circulate the beer through the whole coffee beans which gives the porter a subtle coffee flavour, but there’s also lots of malt character and sweetness from the mix of pale ale, roasted barley, chocolate malt and oats.

Our Flat White Porter is 5% abv and is available in our stores and online in 330ml bottles and in kegs in selected outlets while stocks last.

Don’t worry, it won’t keep you up all night, it’s the coffee equivalent of a tenth of a cup of coffee. Read Less

Nevermore is inspired by a combination of Adnams Ghost Ship 4.5% and Thornbridge Brewery's Wild Raven, but reimagined using only UK hops. Named after Edgar Allen Poen's poem "The Raven". Nevermore uses locally-grown grain to add light-toasted coffee notes to the juicy pineapple, grapefruit and pine flavours from the UK hops. The result is an Indian Porter that's bittersweet - just like Poe's haunting tale!
