What on Earth were we thinking?
We were thinking climate change, extra hot summers and beer gardens.

Kung Foo is super light and clean in flavour, but with more character than your commercial "blonde" and "dry" lagers.

In order to achieve the pale color and light body, we decided to use rice. Kung Foo is fermented with a traditional European lager yeast at cold temperatures, which further helps in producing a clean flavour profile .

Foo is then finished with a combination of American and European aroma hops which give the beer a depth which is not incorporated into typical domestic light/dry beers. Read Less

Growler was the very first beer ever produced in our Moorabbin based brewhouse - batch 0001GRL. At that time, American Brown Ale was not being brewed anywhere else in the country.

The very first home brew trial batch of this beer was submitted for judging at the 2006 Cascade Brewer's Guild (Seattle WA) Cascade Cup and was judged "Best to Brew" amongst a field of over 100 beers. Since then, our commercially produced Growler American Brown Ale has won several awards including a Gold Medal at Beer Asia Competition 2010.

Growler is a full bodied brown which presents a full crystal based malt profile combined with prominent hop character from US Cascade hops. Read Less

Grizz is a full bodied amber ale showcasing fresh American hops from the Yakima Valley (Washington State).

The inspiration for this beer was Mac N Jack's Amber - a Seattle staple draught offering that is rarely found outside of the Puget Sound region of Washington State. A beer Andrew came to love and one that justified the need to build a brewery in Melbourne.

Grizz American Amber is made with more than one pound of hops per US beer barrel - hopefully you'll appreciate this in the glass.

We think it's a great year round draught beer for those who appreciate big American ales. Read Less

Inspired by Andrew's first car, Taxi was one of the original set of beers that we offered at the brewery when it first opened. Back in 2007, many of our locals had never strayed outside the fold of beers offered by the large domestic brewers. We knew that we needed a stepping stone beer to get them off "Draught" and into "Craft".

Loosely labelled pilsner, Taxi more closely represents the Munich Helles (Blonde) lager style. Moderate to low bitterness, clean cold temperature fermentation and the restrained use of fine German hops has resulted in an extremely approachable and sessionable lager beer. For new comers to the brewery, we always recommend they start (and finish) on Taxi.

Despite it's light hearted name, Taxi is a well respected main pour at many Melbourne venues. It trumped the worlds oldest operating brewery Weinestephan to win the major trophy for Best European Style Lager at the 2013 Australian International Beer Awards. Read Less

We generally try to do something a little different, and Voodoo is no exception. Baltic Porters are slightly unusual in that "porter" is typically an ale style, but the Baltic version is made with a lager yeast. This tends to result in a cleaner ferment, minimising the fruity ester characters found in other porter styles.

Voodoo Baltic Porter's malt character is driven by crystal and dehusked black malt. This results in espresso notes without the astringent, bitter roasted character often present in dark beers.

Voodoo was judged Best Victorian Beer at the 2010 AIBA competition and was also ranked highest in the Draught Porter category, earning a gold medal.

It's easier to skip out of math class and go surfing, easier to do your taxes next month. Sometimes life is about EASY.

Lazy Boy is all about Easy. Showcasing the attributes of American IPAs, in a really sessionable format.

Easy to drink - but not so easy to make. Balance is what makes this beer so sessionable, but from the brewing side this can be challenging. Independant flavour
characteristics including: bitterness, body, alcohol strength, hop flavour and malt sweetness need to harmonised.

Every year - we dig deep to create an engaging and delicious beer for the Great Australian Beer Spectapular Festival - and Hazella is our offering for 2015. Of the one hundred and twenty beers on offer, Hazella was the second most popular beer at the event.

Our new brewer Chris Fletcher came up with the idea of a "Nutella" beer. When Andrew discovered that an old friend Bernie had just become a hazelnut farmer in Erica Vic, the deal was sealed.

Hazella is an imperial brown ale - mashed at high temperature to deliver a rich dextrinous wort. We then introduced freshly roasted, coarsely crushed Victorian hazel nuts supplied by "Hazel Nut Valley". Hazella was then modestly dry hopped with Tasmanian "Ella" hops.

Our aim with Gypsy was to produce a pear cider with the broadest appeal. This drove us to craft a semi-sweet, medium acid cider with moderately high carbonation levels. Gypsy is made from packham and williams fruit varieties and roughly 2.5 pears go into each bottle.

Pear V. Apple . . . Go the Pear! ... it's the underdog. Pear cider tends to be lower in acid (tartness) when compared to apple cider. It also has a fullness on the pallate due to its high content of complex fruit sugars including fructose. Both of these attributes result in a more rounded flavour impression.

Unlike some of the European Imported pear ciders, Gypsy does not contain fruit flavouring additives or extracts like vanilla. Read Less

Well - its all about the funk.

The inspirational beer for James Brown was St Bernardus 12. But we wanted to funk things up by using a special Belgian Abbey yeast that we import as a live culture from the manufacturer.

We had used this particular strain of yeast in the Trickster Witbier and Rusty Pale Ale, and really like the funky ester profile (fruit driven yeast characters). Fermented at high temperatures with a concentrated pool of malt sugars and caramelised Belgian candy sugar, the James Brown has unique stone fruit, banana and bubblegum esters. These are played off against a caramel and chocolate malt base to produce a complex and delicious beer. It should be noted that JB is fermented with care to avoid detectable phenolic flavours and compounds.

Why is it so pricey? Imported live yeast, Belgian Candy Sugar and Federal
Government Excise Tax are all on the take.

Enjoy it in a balloon glass with plenty of head space and serve cool but not cold. Read Less

Lots of hop character, modest hop bitterness.

Boom! is made with a Scottish pale malted barley, and English ale yeast and over one pound per keg of aromatic Centenial American hops. Additional light kilned crystal malts were added for complexity and body.

We've been told by industry critics that the 2 Brothers Fold has a reputation for malt driven beers, but with some recent evolutions in our conditioning processes, we hope that Boom! will break this paradigm.

The greatest & hardest working man in the brewhouse, Tommy, often tells us tales of his brother working for SpaceX. Then out of nowhere, Andrew (one of the brothers) decides to tell us he worked as an aerospace engineer in Seattle (definitely working on shadow projects).
Feeling mildly inadequate and left contemplating our own existence as brewers, we brewed this Space XPA to fill the void - a hop driven tropical fruit bowl that satisfies our quest for more. Enjoy!
