Totally forgot that I had had this before but I second my first review: it’s like a watered down Wee heavy but in a good way. Definitely can see why it’s won some awards.
Anderson Mayfield is drinking a Gold & Ale by The Black Abbey Brewing Company at Brentwood, TN
Finally, a truly new style of beer and one that I immediately love: the English golden ale. No idea if they drink it in the old country but it’s got nice floral notes from the English hops with less earthiness than a typical English bitter. Great brew.
Anderson Mayfield is drinking a Krampus Nacht by The Black Abbey Brewing Company at Brentwood, TN
Two delightful single bocks for me in a row. This is one of those styles that, after one sip, I ask: why isn’t this more popular in the US? really nailed it in terms of a huge body with a dry finish that leaves you feeling refreshed and wanting more.

I love malty, caramely, bready beers, but this one might be a tad heavy on some of those elements. The relatively high ABV is well masked. This is definitely a solid campfire beer, and that is exactly to how I’m enjoying mine in fact!

This one won in the German bracket of our Oktoberfest tournament.
Finally! I knew these guys put out quality stuff but to date it’s just been pale ales as far as I can tell. Now that I see how well they did my beloved English bitter, I can definitely see that these guys have a deft hand with quality ingredients.
