Lager/Kolsch/Pilsner (6 Items)

Lager is a type of beer conditioned at low temperatures. The term may also be used as a verb to describe the cold-conditioning process. Lagers can be pale, amber, or dark. Kölsch is a style of beer first brewed in Cologne, Germany. It is unusual because although it is warm fermented with ale yeast, it is then conditioned at cold temperatures like a lager. Pilsner (also pilsener or simply pils) is a type of pale lager. It takes its name from the Bohemian city of Pilsen, where it was first produced in 1842. The world’s first blond lager, the original Pilsner Urquell, is still produced there today.

Among the first brewers known to export beer to India was George Hodgson's Bow Brewery, on the Middlesex-Essex border. Bow Brewery beers became popular among East India Company traders in the late 18th century because of the brewery's location near the East India Docks. Amber/Brown Ales (4 Items)

Amber ale is a term used in Australia, France, and North America for pale ales brewed with a proportion of amber malt and sometimes crystal malt to produce an amber color generally ranging from light copper to light brown.

Porters/Stouts (2 Items)

Stout is a dark beer. There are a number of variations including Baltic porter, milk stout, and imperial stout; the most common variation is dry stout. Stout is a top-fermented beer. Porter is sweeter than stout, but whether a porter is sweet, or spicy and bitter, by itself depends on how dark its grain is and the malt and hops used. Generally, porter does not use roasted barley, but some may; when it does, it usually uses lighter-colored barley. Due to the use of roasted, darker barley, stout has deeper roasted notes than porter and often has a dry, bitter taste.

Cider is an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented juice of apples. In the U.S. and parts of Canada, varieties of fermented cider are often called hard cider to distinguish alcoholic cider from non-alcoholic "cider" or "sweet cider", also made from apples.
