Has the characteristics that you would associate with a British gold ale, but a little bit 'off in the distance'. Malt tang, lemon, biscuity, bitterness for sure. For me, this could go further, be bolder. I see what they're aiming for, but a way to go.

Simon Ashman is drinking a TEA (Traditional English Ale) by Hogs Back Brewery at Kings Head

A quintessentially English bitter, classic in every way. Strong, sharp bitterness, savoury malt, deep richness. Bit of a herbal, lemon thyme/rosemary character too. Simply splendid on cask, an old favourite of mine which I will buy on sight.

Simon Ashman is drinking a Black Scottish Stout by Belhaven Brewery at Kings Head

If you like the black stuff, get a mouthful of this. Creamy as you like, but sweet and marshmallow-esque on the palate. Deep, rich, almost dark rum vibes. Little touch of bitterness but mainly that sweet creamy finish. Yum!
