Somehow tastes sweeter & more pastry-like than the non barrel variant. Toasted coconut cake donut. I do get a whiff of vanilla off the barrel. Big caramel/toffee flavor. Too sweet.

This is very nice. Great body that is resilient despite the high acidity. The head too. Bright fruity hops with dried herbal notes. Lemongrass, apricot, lemon zest.

This is too sweet, regrettably. Massive apple brandy flavor that dominates the flavor & aroma profile. The oaky cinnamon flavor is a nice complimentary touch. It's cloying.

Super tangy citrus. Tangerine & mandarin orange. Secondary tropical mango & cantaloupe. Initial reaction was that it was oversweet, but its actually balanced. The hops are quite acidic.

So massive. Extremely thick & rich. Very spicy oak. Huge chocolate aroma. Vanilla coming off the oak. Booze cuts through on the second sip. Sky high. Secondary note of toffee. Lots of bourbon.

This reminds me of a SMASH of riwaka, but I know the grist bill is probably complex. Really capturing that NZ terroir. Peppery & fruity showing grapefruit & tart lemon. It's dry & aromatic, which i like & is correct for the style.
