Summer Crush by Hopfly Brewing Co.

Steve Holoien is drinking a Summer Crush by Hopfly Brewing Co. at White Oaks

I taste peach, pineapple, and a bit of candied orange peel. Citra, Galaxy, El Dorado, and Lupomax hops. It’s only a little sweet, and comes with 7.5% ABV.

Drying Wishes by Fieldwork® Brewing Company

Steve Holoien is drinking a Drying Wishes by Fieldwork® Brewing Company at White Oaks

Brewed with rice, this West Coast IPA has a dry crispness, in the direction of a lager. Centennial and Citra hops not overdone in the flavoring, but still leaving great aromas: hoppy pine resin, subtle tropical sweetness, and even some dank. I’m a fan.

Mmm, chocolate and strawberry blending perfectly here. The coconut adds creamy smoothness, but the coconut flavor is pretty muted. Can date not readable.

eight.1 by Alvarado Street Brewery

Steve Holoien is drinking an eight.1 by Alvarado Street Brewery at White Oaks

I’m loving this 5.6% APA. Big, prominent hops impact from Simcoe, Mosaic, and “Pop” hops influences. Grassy and beautiful for Alvarado’s eighth anniversary. 5/3/2022 very fresh can.

Key Lime Pie by Great Notion Brewing

Steve Holoien is drinking a Key Lime Pie by Great Notion Brewing at White Oaks

Excellent interpretation of key lime pie in a fruited sour ale. Vanilla, lime, sea salt and coriander. Great lime pureness, not a lot of crust to the pie, but that’s ok! ✅

Far left. Strata and Simcoe hopped DIPA at 7.5% ABV. The hop butchers delivered. It’s bright, refreshing, and laced with grapefruit juiciness. Medium carbonation, smooth mouthfeel.

Pina Colada vibe in this delicious TIPA. Ant trifle with its 10.5%. Big, rich, creamy mouthfeel and overall a pretty sweet flavor impact. Citra and Sabro hops playing well together.

Mediator by Heater Allen Brewing

“Liquid Bread” for the German monks during Lent. This Doppelbock brings some huge roasty, caramel sweetness. Mediator finishes with a toasty, slight end bitterness.

Earthy, bitter Norwegian Kveik yeast DIPA. CTZ, Citra, and Vic Secret, plus a little Magnum for the hop spectrum. Some spelt included in the malt bill. Dry and barren, like the ice fields of Fargo, ND.

Discotheque by Oxbow Brewing Company

First in my flight. 32 months in production, this nice saison is lemony and very bubbly. There’s a hint of pepper and clove. Blend of spontaneous fermentations and barrel aged batches. Refreshing, bright, and funky.

Simcoe, Galaxy, Waimea, and Zeus hops. It’s actually pretty sweet. They have added milk sugar and achieved a juicy sweetness. Terpenes but the dank does not explode at me. Medium mouthfeel, interesting pine notes too.

Pomace: the peel, core, stem, soft tissue, and calyx (bottom thingie) of the apple. Clay pot spontaneous fermentation with apple pomace and then 2-year barrel aging. High carbonation. It’s super-good, tart and appleicious.

Sutro Suds by Barebottle Brewing Company

Steve Holoien is drinking a Sutro Suds by Barebottle Brewing Company at White Oaks

Unfair comparison for #2 in flight as top pilsners (for me) barely equate to reasonably good hazy, hoppy IPAs. Motueka hopping lifts this lager up, but the tasty lime zest can’t overcome the bready aftertaste.
