Aroma is mostly bourbon: distinctly sour mash(!), booze, and oak. Flavor is liquid Werther's...no beer geek imagination needed. Sweet but nicely balanced by alcohol. Still doesn't seem boozy for 13% abv.
Showing very well. Lots of rum character but not boozy. Sherry-like oxidation. Toffee & caramel. Date & fig evident. Sweet but not cloying. Balanced by light alcohol & spice. Spiced rum barrel?Earned the Old is New (Level 2) badge!
First beer in public since Oct or Nov. An old school hoppy red ale at an old school brewpub. Not quite Celebration but very reminiscent: citrus & pine, slightly floral, caramel & malt, lingering bitterness. Head even has that greenish hue ala Celebration!
