Forty Niner by Ringwood Brewery

Look at this beauty. Excellent condition to start. The first sip of pure malty fullness. Biscuity malt, rich with a creamy mouthfeel. The lacing is all there. Caramel bready sweet bitterness at the finish. Lingers with vanilla. What a belter.

Saint George by Acorn Brewery

Lemon astringency, thin with a herb outfit. The bitterness takes the stage with the sweetness is a quick appearance. I wouldn’t have another but certainly a thirst quenching ale.

Dissolution IPA by Kirkstall Brewery

What a belter. Hoppy, full and a touch floral. There’s a bit of a marmalade thing going on here. Easy drinking, butter comes to mind, clean smooth semi citrus finish.

Doom Bar by Sharp's Brewery

Hard to believe I’ve not rated this until now. Nothing obvious on the aroma, initially quite pleasant with its subtle malts, after a while it has a cloying appeal. Sweetness is present, steady and fairly drinkable. Nothing to balance it out.

Black Band by Kirkstall Brewery

Look at this beauty. You could almost frame it. A nice pillowy froth with a dark ruby colour. A classic porter from Kirkstall. Starts with a distinctive dark roast malt that quickly met with berry fruits. Delicate sweetness. Full bodied dry finish.

Golden Salamander by Salamander Brewing Company

Light golden ale, an essence of sweet fruit on the nose. Grainy mouthfeel with a chewy aspect that comes after the citrusy follow on. Good lacing, building hoppiness that has a balanced sweet citrus bitterness to finish.

American pale, I’m no expert but I think I detect the Amarillo in the pineapple with a juicy lemon grapefruit. This has quite the boom factor with lots of citrus notes followed by a faint malt looming in the background. What a balance and brewery.

This comes under an American Brown ale. Utterly delicious with fruity grapefruit perhaps on the aroma. Juicy tones that give the impression of a stewed IPA in cask. Full mouthfeel with that lingers with a malty sweetness of toffee. This works .

What a fine brew from Roosters. Some faint biscuit notes coming from the aroma. Sturdy caramel malt with a wee bitterness that grabs your attention. Lingering of sweetness with a mixed fruit citrus edge. Bright buttery finish. Cracker this.

Not too far from here near Barnsley comes this Light straw ale. Starts with a refreshing smooth mouthfeel, moderate in sweetness, tangy lemon but not to overly citrusy. Not much of an aroma. A bit watery with a biscuity hop forward finish.
