Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022) by Founders Brewing Co.

Smoky nose. More barky than I remember. I was surprised when I saw the 70 IBU, but yeah, there's a fair bit of tree in this. Roasty dark chocolate. Does not taste like 12%, nor do I get bourbon. Good, but not as good as I remember though. 3.85

Tropical nose. Nice blend of tropical and some citrus. Pretty mild finish, with passionfruity hops sticking around. I feel like it's kinda missing something though. 3.9

It's cold, that's for sure. Not super flavorful though. Back end is bitter like dry spruce twigs.

Boy, is this good. It's occupies a somewhat unexplored region between singles and doubles in terms of ABV, sweetness, and texture.

Grandpappy by Docent Brewing

Not very sweet or boozy. A nice viscous coating remains after one's swallow, which is followed by the emergence if a roasty bitter conclusion. Bitter like ole Jasper's grandpappy, in fact. Good for a morning pick-me-up.
