Dan Cowell: Adam K. Need to look closer. From 1946-1992 The Abbey of St Bernardus at Watou brewed the Westvleteren beers.
Dan Cowell: Adam K. In 1992 the St Sixtus reopened their brewery. The recipe went back with them. St Bernardus brewed their own beer and kept the label.
Dan Cowell: Adam K. This particular bottle dates from probably the late 70's to the mid 80's.
Adam Knoke: Great to know. Both beers are great. How old is this brew then?
Dan Cowell: Adam K. Best guess is late 1970's-mid 1980's

What have you done to a once formidable BA stout? Tastes like someone blended a Quad with a really thin stout and a splash of whiskey.
Boulevard Brewing Company: ...finishes at 5.2 Plato so it's actually a touch drier than the Smokestack Limited Release version. It's tough to account for what causes..
Boulevard Brewing Company: ...individual tastes to change over time so I can't speak to that, but I wanted to at least look at the data and share my findings.

Alex P.: I personally still enjoy it but haven't had it ages until recently. It is still far better than most breweries "barrel aged stouts."
Dan Cowell: Boulevard Brewing Company it is definitely different. Just did a vertical tasting from 2012 through the current version. New is different.
Dan Cowell: Boulevard Brewing Company and not in a good way. I've always loved this and other Boulevard beers.

This held up about a well as one could expect. It was still, but had very little oxidation. Full of dates and fig, with hinta of sherry.
