No real trace of wild strawberry (hard to find, hard to harvest after all, even harder to replicate those fine bitter-sweet flavors). Nevertheless, a good , champagne-like beer, with vanilla taking center stage, and really wonderful on a hot, summer day.

The maple version was far superior, with lots of subtleties. This one - as it warms up - turns into a rather sirupy, earthy, cloyingly sweet impy stout, where neither rum nor cinnamon seem to be able to make a dent. They just don’t seem to be there.

Dark translucent hickory body, a fairly nice campfire smokey nose but not as intense as one might expect (especially when you are familiar with the Bamberg benchmark). Stronger char/roast malt at the finish would have been better, as well as a lower ABV.
