We love hops – that’s why our flagship Double IPA, Heady Topper, is packed full of them. Heady Topper was designed to showcase the complex flavors and aromas these flowers produce. The Alchemist has been brewing Heady Topper since 2003. This Double IPA is not intended to be the strongest or most bitter DIPA. It is brewed to give you wave after wave of hop flavor without any astringent bitterness. We brew Heady Topper with a proprietary blend of six hops – each imparting its own unique flavor and aroma. Take a big sip of Heady and see what hop flavors you can pick out. Orange? Tropical Fruit? Pink Grapefruit? Pine? Spice? There is just enough malt to give this beer some backbone, but not enough to take the hops away from the center stage. Read Less

When our pub was flooded in the summer of 2011, we lost two oak barrels that I used to produce sour beer.

A few years ago, we started up the barrel program once again at The Alchemist. It is a very modest assortment totaling about 30 barrels of varying pedigree. We brew the beers and inoculate them with the bacterial cultures found in some of my very favorite examples of the style.

The goal of this program is to occasionally produce some wonderful creations that I find myself compelled to share, while at the same time, keeping the whole process fun. These releases will be different every time, and who knows when the next one will be ready.

You are holding the first blend that I have deemed worth of your attention. This sour blonde ale was aged between one to three years in oak, and another six months in the bottle.

Wild Child originated as an homage to our then three year old son, Charlie. He is 13 now, and as wild as ever. I hope you enjoy this delightful treat in the company of friends.
