Yesterday’s 2023 S.W.I.R.C.A. Brew Fest. Lotsa good beers, many from the Ohio Valley Brewers Association that may not be on Untappd. This schwarzbier was a nice start.

The only beer at the 2023 SWIRCA Beer Fest fund raiser which I have had before (and my last of the event). In June 2019, I liked it, and here in Sept 2023 I like it again. Wife gives up a thumbs-up too. Not perfumy and not too sweet.

This is the first Untappd rating for this beverage. Not a beer, but a spiked fruit punch. Much higher ABV (at 11.1%) than a wine cooler, this simply tastes like spiked fruit punch. As for me, it was OK. From the carton (not a bottle or can).

I am not ashamed to admit that my favorite beer (of 20) at the 2023 SWIRCA Beer Fest fund raiser is from a macro brewery. Though this has less body and character than a normal Modelo (which I love), it is still very good. Drinkable, smooth and clean👍

Earned the Cerveza Matador (Level 3) badge!

Can you say sour! I have imbibed hundreds of sour beers. This may be the most tart of all. I truly had to pucker after sipping. Didn’t really notice the key lime, coconut, or vanilla because the sourness overpowered everything else.

Earned the Cheers to Independent U.S. Craft Breweries (Level 80) badge!

Kolsch’s are my favorite style of all beers, so I am a bit particular about my Kolsch beers. And this one is more bitter than a Kolsch should be. Average at best.

Earned the Respect the Kölsch (Level 6) badge!

I expected this to be dark and malty tasting - and it was. No surprises here. Average for this style.

Earned the The Dark Side badge!

Very hoppy as this style is known for. Unfortunately, I don’t care for this style. Only OK.

Earned the Riding Steady (Level 97) badge!

A very good Witbier! Turoni’s hit the mark on this beer - ensuring none of the spices overpowered. One of the more smooth and drinkable examples of this style. Summer Lovin earned a place on my Top 3 list at the 2023 SWIRCA Beer Fest fund raiser!

Smooth Blonde Ale. Not too malty. Couldn’t taste much of the honey though. Still, pretty good

Nasty, overly malty Red Ale. One of the few beers at the 2023 SWIRCA Beer Fest fund raiser that I had to pour out of the glass - wasn’t worth finishing. Strange name too…

Plain, but smooth Blonde Ale (as this style should be). One of my Top 5 beers at the 2023 SWIRCA Beer Fest fund raiser. Liked it.

Earned the Brewery Pioneer (Level 54) badge!

I liked this lemon Radler, and would have liked it more if it was a little less lemony. Still it was refreshing.

A bit too malty for a Blonde Ale. This one was OK.

Sour apples for sure, like combining apple cider with a beer. A bit too acidic for me. OK.

One of my Top 3 beers (of 20) at the 2023 SWIRCA Beer Fest fund raiser. Much more coconut than pineapple, but still yummy. Not so much of a traditional 1/2 soft drink type Radler but still good - if you like coconut.

Typical hoppy IPA. Smells better than it tastes. Hoppiness overpowers the pineapple.

Can taste corn. Grainy, dry aftertaste. Not bad. The beer matches its name!

Earned the Middle of the Road (Level 93) badge!

The first Untappd check-in for this beer! And in this case, it is a fine example of a Marzen. Not overly malty, and not overly bitter. Nice job by Barker Brewhouse on this seasonal beer.
