Although this is still fantastic, a couple of weeks has made all of the difference in the intensity of the CD character. This is clearly a beer that needs to be drank as fresh as possible for maximum impact. Finishing bitter has ramped up noticeably.
John BD is drinking an Oude Geuze (2015) by Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen at SoBro
This did not age as well as hoped, but some nice light fruity yeast and funk still showed up even if they were muted and thin. Cold it wasn’t great, but warming to ambient temperature improved this dramatically. Thanks much Jeff R.
John BD is drinking a Just Say Gay by The Alchemist at SoBro
Saved my second can for Pride Day, and cracked with some friends at Jeff R. and Ali’s retirement/graduation function. Plenty of citrus and moderate finishing bitterness.
John BD is drinking an Utopias Barrel-Aged World Wide Stout by Dogfish Head Craft Brewery at SoBro
Beer pickups and some shooting the breeze with Jeff R. over a particularly boozy stout. Some cocoa and a bit of a raisiny date thing as it warmed & finished but this primarily featured alcohol heat.
John BD is drinking a Familiar Spaces by Freak Folk Bier at SoBro
With my eyes closed, you could’ve told me that this was a 3F beer and I’d have believed you. Expressive earthiness and funk with balanced raspberry (😍) with a moderate tart finish. Very refreshing, thanks as always Jeff R.
John BD is drinking a Blanton's 30th Anniversary German Chocolate Cake by The Answer at SoBro
Stellar - silky smooth body, baker’s chocolate, creamy mouth that’s rich and full but not outright thicc, and pastry-esque without being particularly sweet. Not much barrel to speak of but this is an incredible beverage regardless.
John BD is drinking a Wipeout Beat by Foam Brewers at SoBro
Sneaking in a beer courtesy of Duane at Jeff R.’s retirement whiskey share; this is absolutely bonkers good, bright and citrusy up front without a trace of the usual TIPA malty sweetness. Fresh AF and just delightful.

What a tart.

Sweet, oily cherry that reads pretty strongly as cough syrup and finishes with a twist that I guess is the coconut. Odd flavor combo that doesn’t work as well as I’d hoped, but certainly isn’t awful.

As expected, big nilla on the nose and up front, sharp and almost extract-y but not off-putting. A touch of fluffy marshmallow in the body and some unexpected but welcome toffee/molasses in the finish. Hefty body. Thanks Jeff R. via B-RAD T.
John BD is drinking a Kyr Royale (batch 2) by Sante Adairius Rustic Ales at SoBro
Nice bright berry, some very light funk up front, and a really nice refreshing body. It’s very balanced and drinkable - we usually gravitate toward beers that are more attention-grabbing, but this is remarkably non-assertive in a lovely way. Thx Jeff R.

Big smooth rich body, starts with a massive hit of molasses sweetness and fades into a almost a date/raisin thing. Thicker than I normally expect from life. Thanks Duane, this is very nice. #BIL
John BD is drinking an Imperial Pastry Milk Stout W/Coconut & Chocolate by Guggman Haus Brewing Co. at SoBro
This is fine - still chocolatey and a little coconut that shines through, but it’s better in the brownies that I made with another can of this.
John BD is drinking a Modem Tones: Aged in Ethereal Mound Bourbon Barrels by Modern Times Beer at SoBro
This might be some bottle variation based on recent checkins, but this has some metallic penny notes creeping in. It’s not all bad - boozy, decently hefty mouthfeel, some chocolate & barrel - but I think we caught this one just in time. Thanks Jeff R.
John BD is drinking a Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout (2017) by Goose Island Beer Co. at SoBro
A light touch of oxidation, but this is WAY better than the one I opened two days ago. Still a bit of coffee on the nose and some cocoa richness. Thanks Jason A.
John BD is drinking a King AL by Equilibrium Brewery at SoBro
Real nice dinner beer - crisp bitterness, clean finish, maybe some melon hiding in there. Supremely drinkable and just super cool to see an NEIPA that has so much West Coast influence. Thanks Jeff R.
John BD is drinking a Double Barrel A... Du Extra Kuto by The Answer at SoBro
Massive in all the best ways, yet still somehow restrained. Creamy coffee nose, gobs of cocoa, and underlying integrated barrel; a hefty mouthfeel, yet the body isn’t excessively thicc. This is masterful.
John BD is drinking a Neapolitan Bourbon Barrel Dark Apparition by Jackie O's Brewery at SoBro
Haven’t had a Jackie O’s beer in a hot minute, and this one doesn’t disappoint; barrel-y cocoa plays nicely off a balanced fresh strawberry all in a smooth-bodied creamy package. Real nice. Thanks Jason A.

Massive citrus aroma that shifts rather abruptly to pithy grapefruit. Neat contrast between two radically different interpretations of IPA. Thanks Jeff R.
From NYE - prior to January starting! This has a nice crisp body with very restrained pine notes. Thanks Santa Dan H.
