Maz, formerly known as Mazarin, is my take on a “thinker’s beer”. Rather than being big and undecipherably complex I wanted to create something that would calm a hop yearning nerve without fuddling the brain too much. In other words, a lavishly hopped ale of judicious ABV — an Extra Special Pale Ale if you will.

In fact, so extra special that it snatched a gold medal at the Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival in 2013.

Next up in our reimagined series is a beer that we, and those big friendly Greeks over at Seven Island, have been itching it bring back pretty much since it was first brewed back in 2018.

At the time it was definitely a step forward for us in our exploration of fruited IPAs but things have moved on since and so we decided it was time to revisit and turn things up a notch.

Already built on a classic hazy IPA base of oats and wheat with a touch of caramalt for sweetness and colour, we simply tweaked proportions to bring in-line with our preferred grists today. We stuck with the same hop varieties - El Dorado, Mosaic, Citra - but moved a chunk of the dry hop earlier in fermentation, resulting in fruitier flavours, increasing separation between hopping and fruit reduces potential astringent flavours from the two reacting.

Lastly, we upped the fruit to 240g/l total and added it all post-fermentation ensuring maximum tropical intensity! Rounded out with a touch of vanilla, this is a tropical smoothie of an IPA with the tangerine, pineapple and melon notes of the hop combination riding through underneath.

Starlight è una Light Beer in stile Leichtbier di origine francone da 2,5%Vol con il carattere della sorella maggiore Keller. Si presenta color oro carico con delicate sfumature arancio. E’ stata prodotta con malti Pilsner e Monaco di origine tedesca e un luppolo proveniente da una storica farm nell’Hallertau. Per la fermentazione abbiamo optato per l’utilizzo del nostro celebre ceppo di lievito lager proveniente dalla Franconia. Al naso predomina il cereale con un panificato gentile lungo ed intenso. In bocca è croccante e delicata con un cereale gentile e al contempo rustico.
Il suo sorso risulta snello e veloce ma riesce comunque a lasciare il segno. Read Less
