Saved a special one for Josh D.’s last night in Indy - we’re both Halo fans so this had to be it. Banana dominates the palate, but the light cinnamon & wisp of maple on the back end really lend it a banana bread character. Almost no residual sweetness. A+

One last strong pull from Josh D.’s cellar before he moves to Boston in a few days. This is delightful: thick roasty body with sweetness but also a nice dose of leathery barrel character. Even better out of coffee mugs since the beer glasses are packed.

Apricot is less forward that I would have hoped, but the cucumber is right there, and perfectly complements the salty finish.

Very interesting - big earthy tart pop up front followed by some sweetness and tropical notes as the hazy blend finally seeps in. Finish is more dry than I expected. Weird little experiment but I like it.

Celebrating DLD Eve with Josh D. and making it a real thing - this is only a year old but has picked up some off flavors. Sweet but felt fairly oxidized right after popping it. It was nicer as it warmed but that was NOT what I expected out of a recent DL.

Stoked at how well this aged - plenty of oak and a hint of tartness, but lots of smooth malt that probably wasn’t prominent when fresh. Very slight apple notes.

By far the best I’ve had it from the bottle - way more oaky and barrel notes than last time, and a richness is starting to develop that I don’t recall from earlier bottle experiences. Thanks Josh D.

I was kinda expecting this to be terrible but it held on surprisingly well - some oxidation and faded adjunct notes of course were present but this was still decently drinkable there were hints of chocolate and coconut. Still a #nevercellar convert tho.

Old can, but the PBJ notes are still strong - berry nose and a sweet jammy body with some lingering PB notes that stand out more as it warms. Not super thicc but def leaves residue in the glass. Thanks Josh D. for helping clear out old beers.

Still super oaky with a strong leathery character. I need to find it on draft again for comparison, but I think the bottles still need to mellow for a bit. Thanks Josh D.

Can’t be many 12 year-old bottles of this floating around any more, but I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this #BIL held up. Molasses and caramel held off the slightest oxidation notes. One of the last Robert E. bottles that I still have. #RIP

Amazing beer, pulled a Jeff Reed and smelled it but wasn't sure if I wanted to have a sip or just sniff it all night. Very strong coffee/roast on the nose. Absolutely delicious on the taste.

Appreciate the bro Josh D. for the cellar cleaning assistance; this smells pretty oxidized but that’s less apparent on the palate. Surprisingly roasty. Still wish I hadn’t let this sit for 7 damn years in the basement.
