Intense barley. Het stevige (boozy) karakter en de turf van de whisky doen aanvankelijk denken aan een stout, maar in de basis is dit een echte barley: vol, gedroogd fruit, karamel en mooi droog. Intensiteit en niet balans was het doel. Wat een knaller!

Ongeveer 8 jaar oud en in zeer goede staat. Genoeg koolzuur en geen zuurtje. Fruitig, vooral vijg en rozijn. Subtiele maar volle ondertoon van gerookt leer en tabak, wat het een mooie gelaagdheid en complexiteit geeft. Vettig, met een iets droge afdronk.

Geen koolzuur en dus erg plat. Jammer, want deze robuuste en rijke stout had zoveel potentie… Mooi in balans qua zoet/roast/chocola en een mooi rond ruft karakter. Toch een kleine 4 voor de smaak en viscositeit.
