Putty (2023) by Verdant Brewing Co

Andrew Watson is drinking a Putty (2023) by Verdant Brewing Co at Kingston upon Thames

This is a terrific version. Huge tropical fruit. Murkiness. Hint of bitterness. No imbalance or harshness. Worth the hype this year.

Quite interesting, seems to have the hops and hints of a twiggy cask ale whilst being an American style pale. It’s not my favourite balance but I like the creativity.

Declassified Demi-God by BrewDog

Lost a bit of complexity, still doesn’t need the lactose, still a relatively enjoyable and punchy beer.

Utterly dreadful. Undrinkable. Acid with more acid burn. Down the drain it goes.

Possibly my last one. Like soy sauce with whisky now. Huge and boozy. Some of the chocolate and coffee has faded. It’s a decadent Impy stout.

Wanderer 75-Minute IPA by Abbeydale Brewery

Andrew Watson is drinking a Wanderer 75-Minute IPA by Abbeydale Brewery at Kingston upon Thames

It’s got all the right ingredients, but something just doesn’t quite sit perfectly for me. A fine beer, good resin and a bit of fruit, but it’s every so slightly unbalanced in a way that distracts from a beer I want to love.

Ball Pit by Phantom Brewing Co.

It’s a solid middle of the road hazy IPA. Fruity flavours and a hint of bitterness but nothing to blow you away.

Pretty decent amber-bitter. Slightly over fizzy due to age in bottle but pleasant all the same.

Past BBE and it’s fermented further in bottle to be overly fizzy and limited in flavour.

Bit punchy, bit of sediment, usual Boundary DIPA satisfaction.

It’s carbonated, it’s citrusy, it has that lovely Boundary house yeast. Yes please.

It’s settled down over the months. Not too lively, more balanced flavours. Tonka is still pretty strong.

Chocolate, coffee, roasty malts. Just so lovely for a dark January night.
