Eggster by Bridge Road Brewers

David McLaren is drinking an Eggster by Bridge Road Brewers at Horn Please

Last drop of the night - the Eggster triple choc ale, accompanying this evening’a dessert, the Gulab Jamun. Dessert is delightfully syrupy, and the beer works nicely alongside it - it’s very chocolatey, but also has a fairly deep roasty bitterness.

The food just keeps on coming. Outstanding Thali, accompanied by the Bling IPA. Been a while since I’ve had the beer, it’s a bit stronger than I recalled. Fruity and quite smooth.

Dish 3, a Samosa Slider (?!?). Definitely a first for me, all you’d expect from a Samosa in burger form. The beer is an a cracker, have had it on tap before but first time for this batch in cans. It’s a bit earthy, quite fruity, a touch dank. Great drop!

Dish 2, Tso Cauliflower (battered cauliflower in tomato and chilli sauce). Really interesting, rich, tomatoey dish, with the beer cutting through the richness nicely. The beer is a straightforward but very enjoyable Pale, fruity and smooth.

Dish 1, a “Ball of Happiness”, accompanied by the Outsider Lager. The dish was great, something I haven’t had before, lots of rich spice. Really good accompanying Munich-style lager, light and refreshing, and a very pleasant accompaniment to the food.

IPA by Fury And Son Brewing Company

David McLaren is drinking an IPA by Fury And Son Brewing Company at Horn Please

Here for the Bridge Road to Mumbai dinner at Horn Please in Fitzroy North. Looking forward to the beer and food pairings, but first an IPA from locals Fury & Son. This is bright, citrusy and hoppy. Has some bite, while still being east drinking.
