Bourbon County Brand Wheatwine (2018) by Goose Island Beer Co.

Ian is drinking a Bourbon County Brand Wheatwine (2018) by Goose Island Beer Co. at Gretna City Park

I don’t typically even like wheatwine ales, but this is really solid. Vanilla is subtle, but the toffee is there and balanced well with the bourbon flavor. Thin and boozy. Very good for the style.

A solid chocolate porter. I am not usually a big fan of this style, but this is pretty sweet and not bad. The chocolate is nicely balanced with the roasted coffee malts. Good.

Really tasty dark sour ale. There is a slight hint of the whiskey from the barrel aging that adds some bite to it and it is tart. A tad acidic but also fruity. Quite good.

Wow, this is as rich and sweet of an Imperial Stout as I have had in a while. The Oreo flavor is spot on. And not too boozy. Really delicious and an excellent dessert beer.

Blood orange is subtle. A latent citra angle with a light bitter finish. Full mouthfeel and not too hoppy, but an evenly balanced fruit side. Smooth and light all around, but still quite flavorful. Good stuff. Thanks Anthony A.!

Definitely a peanut butter aroma, but light on flavor. The coffee really comes through and is roasted. A tad boozy so the 11.9% is noticeable. Creamy and smooth.

I am pleasantly surprised by this offering. Nice balance of mosaic hops with a juicy feel. Even tropical. It has been interesting to see the larger Craft brewers work towards the hazy IPA, but it is close. Smooth and hazy. Not bad.

Has a nice light, citrusy wildness to it from the in house Brett. It is not as “earthy” as some farmhouse saisons, but still a little funky and tart. Well done.
