Ally is drinking a Thomas Hardy's Ale - Golden Edition 50th (2018) by Meantime Brewing Company at Derby Street Laundry
The sweeter of the two, with more notes of fig & caramel. Still has that metallic, bitter finish, but a much smoother barleywine overall. Nice sipper, but I prefer JW Lees if I’m gonna have a barleywine.
Purchased at Kappy's Liquors

Ally is drinking a Thomas Hardy's Ale (2017) by Meantime Brewing Company at Derby Street Laundry
English barleywine through and through. Reminiscent of JW Lees, without any of the sweetness or syrupy notes. Heavy copper/metallic notes. Yeasty. Notes of toffee, caramel, & dried apricot. Bitter on the finish.

Ally is drinking an Origin of Darkness w/ Raisins, Dates, Prunes by Collective Arts Brewing at Derby Street Laundry
Raisin & prunes come through most on the nose & palette, creating a tangy, purple-fruit flavor. Thin bodied. No notes of rum barrel at all. I was hoping for more caramelized date notes to come through, but this is prune juice with beer-malt undertones
